Hello again! We're pleased to announce that we've updated to 26.3! Big thanks to everyone who made this possible!

Since there were generation changes, we did some significant chunk trimming this time, deleting nearly every chunk with an inhabited time under one minute (932501 chunks to be precise). Because this is a forever world but people still want new generation, our compromise is to delete chunks that people don't care about to allow new generation closer to developed areas, without discouraging exploration.

While we wait for a Pl3xmap update, that'll be down, but we hope to have it back up soon!

Way back in the day, at the start of Supercraft just months after it became Supercraft, we used an old blogger site for our news. It was great, but we largely stopped using it around a year before the end of Season 19.

Almost two years into Season 20, we decided to start doing news again, and it was over on a Wordpress site on the same domain that our web presence was on at the time, since we didn't have our own domain.

On 20th February 2026, we finally got our own domain (PlaySupercraft.com, you're hopefully there right now!), but continued using the old Wordpress site for news.

Now, finally, on the evening of 22nd September 2026, we've moved our news to in-house. No Wordpress, no external domains, it's here with everything else Supercraft. Every news article regarding Season 20 has been copied over, and future articles will continue to show up here. Looking for the latest Supercraft news? With special thanks to Jacob1, a recent contributor to Dynmap, we have updated to Java 1.21.10 (as well as the latest Bedrock version) on October 26th, just in time for Halloween! No chunks were trimmed in this update.

Welcome to Ironstriker and QuantumBlueberry!

Earlier this month, we were pleased to welcome QuantumBlueberry on October 12th and IronStriker on October 19th to the Supercraft Team! QuantumBlueberry has settled just north of the Caldera along Highway 25 for the time being, while Ironstriker is building in the heart of the snowy mountains just south of Ayrith.

12½ Years of Supercraft

This month marks 12½ Years of Supercraft, leading TheLivingFred - one of the original three players - to return for a brief time. Supercraft was initially founded in April 2013, and while much has changed since that time, we look to the future with fond memories and hope for that which is yet to come.

Thanks to the great work of the PaperMC and Pl3xmap teams, as well as the Dynmap community, we’re updated to Java 1.21.7 and the accompanying Bedrock versions.

As a reminder, we now support Bedrock crossplay! We’ve tested Minecraft for Nintendo Switch, Minecraft for PS5, and Minecraft for Windows 10/11

Editor's Note, September 2026: Since Spawn Chunks are no longer a thing in the recent versions of Minecraft, the additional stringency within Spawn Chunks is no more.

For quite a while, acquiring building permits consisted of either messaging Mayor Brighton and asking him for one, or dropping off a book-and-quill permit request at the Brynhild Permit Office, but no longer!

April 4th marked the public launch of the new Supercraft Permit System with Version 0.1.0, with Version 0.2.0 coming a few days later on April 10th and visually bringing the site up to the present decade.

Version 0.2.0 visually brought the site forward to this decade.

Permits for participating municipalities¹ can now be requested online, and are typically approved within 24 hours. Additionally, Spawn Chunks have been expanded from 2 to 32, so builds within that boundary (or generally located in and around Ayrith in Brynild) may be subject to some more stringent requirements for purposes of minimizing lag.

Players will need to contact @Spikej555 on Discord to request a login for the permit system.

¹ Most settlements and municipalities show up on the application form under their respective regions, but those which are not participating in the permit system are visually greyed out and not selectable.

We’d also like to welcome Price21less to the Supercraft Team as our 77th member! It was his preference for Bedrock which led to us supporting it.

We are live on 1.21.5!

See below for specific changes

• Trimmed a significant number of chunks (at least hundreds of thousands), mostly according to plan around Old Spawn City but much more aggressively around the new World Spawn, trimming out basically everywhere that hadn’t been built, sometimes to within 1-2 chunks
• Switched from Paper to Vanilla (temporarily). This means that maps will not auto-update until we go back to Paper, though they are still available.
• A redesign of the Overviewer card on the website is in progress, with plans to consolidate the various Overviewers to a single drop-down. This may be expanded to all maps in the future.

There’s been lots going on lately!

• The Supercraft Wiki is live! Feel free to check it out and to improve it as you see fit 🙂
• Most pages on Josh47.com now support Dark Mode, in addition to /muse and the Supercraft Wiki which already did. Additionally, the Game Services page has been completed and is live, showcasing that there’s more than just a Minecraft server.

• Minecraft 1.21.5 has been released! While it’ll likely be several weeks before we update, we’re already planning chunks to trim. On the team? Give feedback on Discord! Tentative plans for trimming as of 2025 March 28th can be viewed below.

In the image below, we kept only those highlighted in orange. This ensured we kept all of the Spawn City and Absoluno regions, as well as Rhyflwhyr’s settlement in the North East and Cipi’s settlement in the Cherry forest to the Southwest.
